Is bankruptcy and option?
If you are in or about to be in foreclosure by your bank or mortgage company you will soon be asking yourself about bankruptcy. Chapeter 7, 11, 12 or 13? Will it stop a foreclosure? There are several other ways to stop the foreclosure without filing a bankruptcy. Other than the debt, the bankruptcy will attach to your credit history for the next 10 years. That is right 10 years. Even if you get back on your feet you will have a bigger credit hill to climb. Most people who are facing foreclosure and can’t stop it with a re-finance because their credit is poor. A BK will only cause your score to be lower! Did I mention the attorney’s fees. They are not cheap, substantial in fact. Add the end of the BK most people are left further in debt and with worse credit.
